Questo è un album ha che ha una produzione creativa rara, farcita da un assolata varieta di influenze in pieno stile Blundetto.
Lo si puo ballare o semplicemente rilassarsi.

E come diceva quello, poi rimbalzato da quell'altro: c'ha l'estate addosso.

“Many people are concerned with always trying to do something different, but I’m interested in trying make the same thing again and again. It’s a challenge. How many ideas can you squeeze out of one concept, out of one sonic palette?” says the artist.

“I made this record primarily with DJs in mind. DJs and record nerds. They are generally people who really love music and are often obsessed with various aspects of it. And they still buy records! I respect that. I’m not making music for people for whom it’s just some background noise in their lives, I’m making music for people for whom it IS their lives. And for better or worse, I guess I am one of those people.”

Penny Goodwin grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin singing in church with Al Jarreau, doing weddings, talent competitions and bar mitzvahs. When she left school she started singing in popular mob run clubs such as Alfie's, Sardino's, and King's Four graduating to clubs in Chicago and Caesar's Palace in Vegas. Despite her huge talent only this one studio LP exists, a mix of covers by Marvin Gaye, Gill Scott Heron plus original songs by herself and manager Sy Lefco. The LP also featuring strings by members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and jazz guitar legend Phil Upchurch. One of the great american jazz vocal LP's by Milwaukee's unsung queen of jazz.

Con un nome così è facile fare scrivere qualcosa; anche senza aver ascoltato il disco. Psichedelia, soul, pop lisergico, sole, Los Angeles, compagni sballati (Ariel Pink, Weyes Blood ecc. ecc.), anni’70, ma soprattutto ci ho sentito forte l’Electric Light Orchestra che ,lo devo ammettere, è uno dei miei peccati inconfessabili.

Grande disco remember.

Nel 2010 vi abbiamo raccontato la strana storia di Mark Capanni: un italo americano di seconda generazione che registrò il promo di "I Believe In Miracles" un anno prima delle Jackson Sisters.

Oggi Mark, che dal cognome potrebbe venire delle nostre parti, vive tranquillo a Santa Monica dove possiede una mangiatoia per famiglie e grazie 7" della Jazzman - che tengo ben chiuso in cassaforte - ha saldato conto con la notorietà.

Poi a questo Kazahaya si accende la lampadina e decide di fondere i due brani insieme.

Tra i diversi progetti paralleli che soddisfano la sete musicale Will “Quantic” Holland, stavolta è il turno di Flowering Inferno, senza dubbio quello più orientato a percorrere i  territori reggae-roots, sempre con quel tocco soulful-dub dagli accenti latineggianti tipico dello stile quantico.

Il nuovo album (1000 Watts) vedrà la luce entro l'estate, così si dice.
Intanto la squadra è formata e a dir poco competitiva. The whole album has been recorded in five excellent studios located in Berlin and Ravenna using vintage analog equipment for he bliss of a warm sound, which can only be achieved by using analogue tape in the end.

"Lunar Love" is Mop Mop’s fifth studio album and it turns out to be Benini’s best work to date, deep and sometimes dark, but uplifting, very soulful and very original at the same time. Combining his afro american jazz background with a tribal offbeat approach and a wonderful story on top. Reaching out to a state of trance which feels very good once you let yourself go.

Nonostante parlare di Jimi Tenor oggi sia piuttosto anacronistico e, in più, farlo su blogger un suicidio di contatti (e consensi).

Secondo post per il mercato russo che, a giudicare dalle statistiche del blog, cresce e ci ama.

La scorsa settimana mi faceva notare il mio socio di aver esagerato con i paragoni: Al Bano non si tocca, da quelle parti è un semi dio, ma con Toto Cutugno ce la giochiamo tranquillamente.

Seguono quattro tracce di boogie, disco, funk languido ed iperraro ristampato da due etichette - sarebbe più corretto definirle memorie storiche - che ci fanno sognare: la People Potential Unlimited, PPU per gli amici e la Anthem Of The North.

Due per uno, non fa male a nessuno.

Superbo esempio di brit funk dalle sfumature proto acid-jazz per i successivi anni '90 e proto hypnagogiche per i successivi anni '00. La metto subito come sveglia nel telefono per alzarmi bene la mattina, e pure come ninna nanna per dormire rilassato.
Great summer tune!

E successivamente ripresa paro paro otto anni più tardi in capo al mondo da Yasuko Agawa.
