Joseph Deenmamode, alias Mo Kolours, alias produttore, percussionista e cantante anglomauritano complesso ed estremamente sfaccettato è un artista ibrido che ha pubblicato già diversi EP e un album omonimo calibrato su funk, hip-hop, dub ed atmosfere caraibiche mischiate con quella componente elettronica da dancefloor che lo ha portato a finire, negli ultimi anni, nelle borse dei dischi dei trendsetter più forti del pianeta.

Quindi Texture Like Sun è una continuazione di quei suoni. Strani, a tratti soffocanti. I 19 brani in scaletta, spesso intervallati da dischi rotti, note vocali e spoken words, come se Kolours volesse distratti per farti perdere la connessione con sua musica, risentono tutti del suo approccio unico, vicino e allo stesso tempo lontano da tutto, o forse a metà strada tra Madlib, Gaslamp Killer e Caribou.

Loops within loops. Loops overlapping in different ways and shifting as they go can take you very far away. You hear it in lots of African music, in jazz and hip hop”.
